London, United Kingdom
Leadership Seminar with USC Professor Jay Galbraith
Hosted by Baker & McKenzie
Partner corporations may send 5 participants from all levels in the organization.
Learning Objectives
Most large companies operate within a global matrix. The matrix structure is designed to give companies the flexibility they need to deliver value to customers anywhere in the world. It’s a valuable way of organizing a company’s resources, but like all organizational structures, it has its tensions. Professor Galbraith, the preeminent expert on global organizational design, has spent his career studying matrix organizations. He knows that many organizations struggle to make the matrix work. But, the problem is not that the matrix doesn’t work, it’s that management fails at the matrix.
This Catalyst Initiative will focus on how to make the matrix really work for your company. Calling upon decades of research, Professor Galbraith will guide you through what differentiates companies that really excel (and fail) at the matrix—and most importantly, why. You’ll learn how to build the intangibles (like trust and collaboration) that success with the matrix hinges upon. Professor Galbraith will also offer some tools (i.e., decision-accelerators) to help you make your organization one of the high-performers.
