By surveying MBA graduates—a proxy for high potential employees—from 26 leading business schools in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia, we have been systematically uncovering the barriers women face in the pipelinefrom the moment they graduate from school. |

After establishing that women experience a gap in both level and compensation from their very first job post-MBA—a gap that only grows over time—we explored potential explanations for this gap including mentoring and sponsorship, career strategies, and leadership development. Insights we have gathered from global leaders help to shine light on these issues and offer examples of how leading organizations are implementing processes to ensure individual talent management decisions are aligned with broader strategies.
